My overarching research interests focus on the role of cognitive biases in determining emotional vulnerability (anxiety and depression) as well as emotional resilience (wellbeing). Using techniques from cognitive psychology, my work aims to increase our understanding of the mechanisms underlying psychopathology and human flourishing.

Recent projects take a multimodal approach integrating cognitive psychology and emotion science with neuroimaging and genetic approaches. To date my research has been funded primarily by the Wellcome Trust.
